Looking for new apps to help you learn Japanese? Over the last 12 months, we have been testing different apps to learn Japanese. We have selected our top 3, these are great tools to improve your writing, reading and listening Japanese skills. Nothing better than learning from a private teacher, but these apps will definitely help you!

Kana LS Touch

Learn Hiragana & Katakana

Kana LS Touch is by far the best app out there to learn how to write and memorize Hiragana and Katakana. The app has a touch screen mode which enables you to write each character with the correct stroke order. The interface is very easy to use. There is also a practise mode with many awesome features. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this app to any Japanese language learner!

Improve your Vocabulary while having fun

Want to have a blast while learning Japanese? With over 800 words in store, this is a great app to improve your vocabulary. The app features 8 unique ADDICTIVE mini-games designed to help build essential vocabulary skills. Trust me, these games are so addictive, try it for yourself! I particularly enjoy the Bloon game! It’s free to download, however you will need to pay around $8 to unlock all the games and words, but again, this is worth signing up for.

Interactive videos to improve your listening skills

FluentU is a giant database of translated and subtitled YouTube videos. With a great range of videos and exercises, you will learn Japanese as it’s spoken in real life by native speakers. The app offers many great features.
